And ask any artist and they will tell you, art can change your life. Collectors will tell you that art will change your style, as well. And carrying tradition with us into the future requires a conscious decision. On the other hand, technological progress is very much shaped by current traditions and how that, in turn, shapes our needs and wants.

In I Gusti Ngurah Udianata’s artwork “Lokal Power” (2018), the dichotomy of past and future are represented into one form. The material, woven bamboos, represent traditional techniques and aesthetics. Whereas the actual sculpture itself, a transformer, represents technological progress and modern values. The piece proves that when the two are united, it can form something truly stunning.
